Wellington-based J&D McLennan Ltd was established in 1945 after brothers James and Duncan McLennan returned from serving in the armed forces during World War II. The company started life as a general engineering and maintenance business servicing the local community and operating out of old horse stables in Petone.
Our product lines over the years have included the design and manufacture of:
- an asphalt manufacturing plan
- a quarry plant
- conveyors
- rock crushers
- rollers
- Toyota vehicle well-side trays
- machinery for the manufacture and handling of cement
- tyres
- a fairground Ferris wheel
Recent history has seen a focus on the design of aviation ground support equipment in our capacity as the manufacturing arm of Airport Equipment Ltd which has installations in every major airport in the South Pacific and beyond. Since 1974, we have manufactured and installed more than 250 aircraft passenger boarding bridges for AEL with all electrical design and construction and fabrication and assembly carried out in-house. Our team is also responsible for site installation.
We have steadily expanded in size and service lines to be one of the largest and most complete engineering shops in the Wellington area. New investment in production machinery and techniques have extended our capabilities as general engineers with a strong mechanical background to offer a wide range of design and fabrication solutions.
